Memoir Scene by Scene: A Generative Workshop

Memoirs are written scene by scene. Memories arise as you go, one scene at a time, and you discover what needs to be said by writing your way there. Magic! In this workshop, we’ll read and discuss several examples of compelling scenes and examine some of the building blocks – language, sentence, rhythm, dialogue – that enrich a scene and bring your story to life. You’ll write new scenes and I’ll offer feedback if you’d like. I’ll send you a small packet of memoir to read before we meet. This workshop aims to create a safe, supportive atmosphere that fosters a community of writers on the peninsula and beyond.
